Not here.. no. But remember what Mortuis said. We need to be aware of our own comings and goings. What would stop him from having us followed? I would scent him, but if he paid a stranger? I still think he had something to do with...

His thoughts trail off as he sees her as she was before the spell. He is silent, feeling a need to throttle Jean-Marc. He should be grateful he guesses, Alise is here with him now. But Jean-Marc was still walking the earth and that needed to be remedied. There is a grating sound as his stone fingers slowly clench. He wanted Jean-Marc's throat between his fingers... now.

There is a bitterness to his musings. I never did figure out how Jean-Marc got into the cemetery that night. You should have been safe on the Church grounds. My mother liked you, but there were others... Trust me, Chaton, even among creatures like myself, there are elitists.

He could see the arguments, as clear now as when he was in Paris. Father dressing him down over a mere human, the accusations that she just toyed with him, being told over and over not to look above what he was. Mama telling him to take her and flee Paris, flee both their families. Telling Father to go pound gravel.

The misery fled when Alise would come spend time with him. That last night he had decided to ask her to leave with him. They were looking up at the stars, talking about what was beyond France, what wonders might be out there, and he never got to ask. Jean-Marc stepped out of the dark, claiming Alise was his property. Stoney remembered the horror and fear on her face, the terror that shook her when Jean-Marc grabbed her arm. Then all was rage. he can remember removing Alise from the Loup Garou's grip, he had heard bones in Jean-Marc's hand snap as he made him release Alise. The battle that ensued.. that was nothing but a blur of pain and blood. He never knew how Alise escaped.

He had lain in a stone sleep after his mother had found him, bleeding, seeking Alise among the tombs. His father and nestkin kept telling him that Alise was afraid of him now, that she refused to see him. It was only later that he learned from his mother that she had been sent to the Americas, that she had begged to see him and been refused by the Kin.

I never knew you left Paris, until it was too late for me to come with you.
