With the kids occupied, Stoney and Tori pull the draping covers from their keyboards. They turn on switches, checking over the long neglected instruments. The electricity hums bringing alive lights. Their eyes gleam as keys easily move and notes echo over the sounds of playing children. It isn't until they hit the rythem switches that the little ones come running.

Stoney pulls the tie from his hair, shaking the mane loose around his shoulders. He grins at his sister from under his long dark bangs.

"Beethoven."

She grimaces, wrinkling her nose. "Dead Mau5."

He sticks his tongue out at her. "Tech Jukebox."

A shudder and sigh. "Beethoven would be better, anything but TJ."

The dark haired gargoyle bends under his keyboard, checking a connection. "T.S.O."

The redhead laughs, green eyes flashing. "Ok, Trans Siberian Orchestra. But I get to pick the first song."

She flicks a few switches, setting the beat and tone. "Flight of the Bumblebee."

Stoney laughs. "Fine, then Lauper's She Bops."

Tori frowns. "Lauper is not techno."

Stoney winks, "Will be when we play her stuff."

 They had a problem.

Chloe put Nanny to sleep, so she wouldn't worry about Tara's tears, and so she wouldn't tell their parents that they were trying to "peek" into the adults' minds.

That in itself wasn't a problem. It was explained to Chloe that one doesn't put another person to sleep just for convienience. The problem was... they couldn't wake her.

Pandora sits on the floor at Nanny's feet and holds Chloe. The little girl explains again what she did. She is close to tears and trying very hard to remember what she was thinking, what her intent had been.

"I wanted her to sleep like Daddy does. He feels good when he wakes up. So does Tomi. I didn't want her to see Tara crying..." Tears flow down the little girl's cheeks. "Momma... Is Nanny gonna sleep for a hunnert years like Sleeping Beauty?"

Ob strokes his daughter's varigated curls, The jewel tones flash brighter with her distress. The other children watch quietly, unwilling to leave the room until Nanny is wakened. Ru and Teri sit close to Mera. The little boys watch the air around Nanny, pointing at things only they can see. Mera's eyes widen after a few moments.

"Auntie Pandy? Ru and Teri like the pretty blue and grey threads in the spell. Why do they stay when you make all the other colors go away?"

Pandora looks at the trio, then gazes at the Nanny, focusing harder with her Magick sight. "I don't see those colors."

Ob and Stoney gaze at the young woman. Stoney chokes, opening the sight to his wife as Ob opens to Pan. Threads in several shades of blue and grey  entwine the Shifter girl's form, like vines wrapped around a sapling.

The Witch's eyes widen. "What the... what is that? I've never seen Magick like that."

Chloe begins to cry. "I'm sorry Momma. I didn't do it on purpose. I was trying to make her sleep like Daddy and Tomi! Honest!"

Ob strokes his little girl's hair. "But Gitanilla... you did. She is sleeping JUST like I do. That is Gargoyle energy." He looks at the others. "Does anyone know where Ike is? Isn't Rowan working with her to learn Elemental Casting?"

Moments later several more heads peek in the room. Tori, Ike, Tannr, and Monty all stare at Nanny. Monty kisses Ike's cheek, telling her to call if they need him and heads down to watch over the Tavern. To make more room, the kids are all gathered on the bigger bed, except for Chloe who stands close to Nanny, holding her mother's hand. Ike and Tori turn their sight to elemental levels and explore the lines.

Tori smiles, shaking her head. "You did this, Chloe? Wow. Very strong. Where did you learn Elemental Magick?"

The little girl raises her head proudly. "Yup." She ducks her head, biting her lip. "But I don't know how to wake her up."

Tori nods, sucking in her lower lip. "It's ok little one. That is what family is for. To help you learn, Just like Tante Ike is good at unwinding spells and needs to practice casting, You are good at casting and need some practice at unwinding. And that is exactly what we are going to do... unwind the vines."

The Viper Gargoyle points out the palest blue lines, then the darker blues. She explains how water energy can be turned to ice, which is what Chloe did. Water slows, stiffens the cells in a body. The greys are stone, earth magick a little less malleable.  Ike shows Chloe how to look for weaknesses in the weaving, helping her find the spots where the magicks start and end. They concentrate on the lines, slowly melting them away.

Soon there is more Nanny and a lot less vines. Finally the women sag in relief, Pandora cuddling an exhausted Chloe close. Nanny stretches, yawning widely. She opens her eyes, blinking to clear them, and bolts upright in her chair, embarrassed by being caught napping by all the parents.

Tori looks up from Alise, scanning the crowd. Ike opens up, feeling for what bothered her sister. There are small fluctuations in the Wards, but nothing that is out of the ordinary. Both scan for a few more moments. There is a spike, a pulse of power. A man in the back draws their attention.

The guy looks angry. His drink is nearly gone, and he has waved for another. His gaze is on his glass, boring into it as if the answers lie in the bottom. He glances up as the drink is put on the table, catching Ike's gaze. He salutes her with the filled glass and downs half. He waves for another and Ike shakes her head, sending to Tori. Angry Drunk. Must be him spiking the Wards. I'll have Monty pour him in a cab after a few more.

Customers mill around the shop. Kit, one of Tori's kids, wraps up one of Stoney's statuettes. The woman is on her cell, telling her friend about "the amazing likeness to the shop's original owner." She goes on to describe it, then gushes on about "not being able to wait to show them!"

Tori smiles to herself. It is a great piece, one of Grace's self-portraits rendered into 3-D. Kit finishes the sale and the happy woman leaves, again on her cell. Kit looks at Tori, rolling her eyes. The two hide smiles and Kit turns to help a couple interested in a piece of Traeger's more unusual jewelry pieces.

One of the Crows sits at the small table outside, sipping hot chocolate. The elderly shoemaker sits across from her, contemplating his next move in their game of checkers. Tori blinks back tears as she thinks of all the times she did Kit's job, while Torrent sat at the same table with the shoemaker, or sharing lunch with Grace. Her phone rings and she clears her throat before answering.

"Red, what's wrong?"

The slim Gargoyle smiles at her husband's voice. "I'm ok Babe. Just thinking of Grace." She smiles at a couple who stop next to her to examine the painting of two wolves at play. Tori nods to the pair and carefully chooses her words. "We sold another of Re'mi Garguoille's pieces. Remind me to call the warehouse. Also we need to bring in more of the nature works and the root sculptures from Ty." The couple move away and Tori lowers her voice. "I love you Coppertop. I am ok. Really. Just a little nostalgic."

She smiles, feeling the touch of his mind against hers. He carresses her face and Tori closes her eyes, relishing what only she can feel. As she opens her eyes, her gaze falls on a young girl near the Fae art. She smiles in a knowing way and tugs at her bangs. Her eyes sparkle for a moment, betraying a bit of magic and she lays her delicate hand on the arm of the thuggish male beside her. She winks at Tori, then turns her attention to the man.

"Call me when you get off. I am going to head over to the Tavern when we close." He tells her he loves her and Tori whispers it back, following it with a mental caress of her own. She hears the catch in his breath and laughs. They ring off and she tucks her phone in her back pocket.

Kit waves to her and Tori walks over to answer a customer's questions about a new artist and her work. She glances at the clock, noting three hours until closing.

Tori stretches. Sunlight still blazes over the rooftops, but Tori has found herself changing back from stone earlier and earlier. The smell of eggs and coffee tickles her nose, but it is the scent of her man that makes her breathe deep. Soft kisses trail over sher still scaled shoulder and she moans.

"Evening Red."

The words are a soft caress along the shell of her reformed ear. She shudders and his hands circle her waist, drifting up to cup her small breasts. His thumbs stroke gently, drawing her nipples into hard peaks. His deep chuckle slides along her spine. Butterflies take wing in her stomach.

I like being in your mind when we make love...

She moans again, knowing Tannr felt her reactions as much as she could feel his. She can feel the heaviness, the ache of being fully aroused. She feels Tannr pick up on her knowledge and yelps as he suddenly pulls her back off the pedestal and bends her over it.

Didn't see that coming, did you?

His hand slides between her legs and finds her more than welcoming. Tori moans again as he plunges two fingers deep.

"Yeeesssssss......"

His smile wraps itself around her mind and Tannr plunges deep. She screams, bucking back hard as his silence is broken by a deep groan. A few thrusts later, Tannr is urging her up on her knees, the pedestal raising her just enough for better thrust. Tannr's hands slide along her body until he is gripping her hips. He shudders as Tori pulses around him, inner muscles sucking, milking his engorged length. Each pulse echoes through him, into her, and back, multiplying the sensations. It isn't long before both are screaming as they crash over the edge, oblivious to anything but the overwhelming shared orgasm.

Tannr wraps his arms around Tori, shifting until her head is pillowed on his hard chest. He tugs at a nipple and kisses her damp hair.

"I think we need a shower..."

Tori grins. "Really? Damn Coppertop... I thought sex was better when the people involved are single... Nearly a month married and it is only getting better."

His chest rumbles as Tannr laughs. "Babe, no wonder Ob and Stoney are so in love with their wives. If this is what they discovered when they tied the knot..." At Tori's groan, he laughs. "You know damn well they all saw the bit at the pool. I felt Ob throwing up walls. Stoney too. Just glad Raina and Erik don't share a link with us. Besides... I want a repeat of the pool... Your mouth is amazing," He kisses her gently, tracing her lips with his tongue. "but couple that with the water jets... and the feel of you all wet and slippery... Now I know what Keon finds so appealing about Water People. You make one sexy water nymph."

Tori moans at the thought. Memories of Tannr holding her spread eagle in front of a water jet, his hands supporting her thighs to keep her legs wide. The sensation was amazing, her head resting against his chest as the water caressed her, teasing her clit gently, flowing over her tight bud when Tannr began to play, fingers teasing her sex, exploring her tight sphincter. It wasn't until she was positioned over the edge of the pool, jet blowing directly on her cunt, that she became aware of what he was doing. His mouth explored her completely, teasing from clit to ring and back until she was writhing form the dual sensations.

His tongue became more firm and aggressive as he held her over the jet. Hard laps at her clit were followed by stiff thrusts at her tight backdoor. Tori's moans, egged him on and soon she could feel his tongue thrusting harder, rubbing her clit, dipping in her slit and forcing into her ass. She tried to move, to buck back at him, but Tannr held her fast. She whimpered when his mouth moved away, but reached back to spread her cheek wider when she felt his fingers pressing in. Tori lost herself, screaming for more as his finger went deep. Tannr had laughed, a low masculine sound of pleasure and Tori started to spasm. Holder her over the jet with one hand, Tannr guided himself to her tight ring and started to pres himself into her. Tori rolled her hips as best she could, thanking the Gods for the shallow end of the pool. Tannr spread his feet slightly, rolling his own his and felt her ring give. He stopped, cock head just inside her, and panted, trying to keep control.

Tori wriggled and Tannr thrust deep, She screamed and he stopped, thinking he hurt her. Her mind flooded his, giving him sensations of what she was feeling. Tannr's breathe left him in a rush and he rammed into her, the sound of his thighs slapping hard into her asscheeks lost in the sound of the motor and moving water. It didn't matter. The sound was there, echoing in their minds, just like the feeling of him in a tight hot grip and her feeling of being totally stretched, nearly painfully so, as a continual stream of water pounded her clit. Minds entwined, Tannr, shifted, groaning as Tori screamed in pleasure. His body pinned hers to the side of the pool, pussy directly over the jet. Tori tossed her head, grinding back against him.

Brace your hands.

He felt her concede and pulled back slightly. The sensation had them both groaning. Tannr only kept standing by sheer willpower. Tori lost it on the first hard thrust. Her orgasm roared through Tannr and he rode the crest, using it to fuel his own need to claim her. Every pulse added to his thrust until her was nearly lifting her out of the pool. He felt another wave building in her and tanr reach under her to find her clit. His legs were shaking, his balls painfully tight. He need to feel her cumming again. Just one more time...

As his thumb found her clit, Tori bucked into his hand. He caught his breath as her ass clamped down around him yet again. This time only the head of his cock was still inside her. She shuddered, rolled her hips, impaling herself on his fingers. Keeping his fingers deep, cupping her so he could press the palm of his hand tightly over her swollen clit, Tannr rocked forward, embedding himself in her forbidden channel. Tori screamed in pain and pleasure, Tannr echoing her as his cock was sucked dry. It was an eternity, yet timeless, as his balls forced jet after jet up her hot ass.

Tori's fingernails scrape along his abs as a whimper escapes at the memory. Tannr moans, cock jerking in response to both her nails and the shared memory. He surges to his feet, sweeping her up in his arms.

"Damn it woman... You make it hard to do anything but fuck you senseless."

Tori grins up at him, emerald eyes flickering with red flames. "That a problem. Coppertop?"

His fingers press between her thighs as he carries her to the shower. Each teasing touch makes her squirm. "Nope..."

As Tori and Tannr gather a few things and begin saying goodbye to poeple, Ike borrows Keon's guitar and settles on a tabletop. The tiny lights in the trees bring out the pale green sheen of her blonde waves. Bending her head, the Gargoyle begins to strum a few chords before slipping into the notes of Tori and Tannr's wedding song. The couple stops as Ob stands.

"One last gift *mi hermana..."

He moves behind his wife's chair to lay his hands on Pandora's bared shoulders. Ob kisses the top of her head, inhaling the floral/herb scent of her upswept tresses. Stoney follows suit, stroking a large hand through the straight silken sheet of Alise' new style. Ike finishes the stanza and begins it again. This time the men's voices blend in harmony.

Tannr's arms slip around Tori's slender waist, pulling her tight against him. Other couples lean together as they listen, still others simply hold hands. The words speak of knowing someone for a long time, and just realizing how much that person means to you. As the song drifts onward, tears gather in the eyes of some, remembering those already gone.

Keon holds his sleepy daughter, rocking her gently as he thinks of her mother. A slender hand touches his arm and he looks down into Eite's sad eyes. She steps aside to let Summer take her place. The woman slides the mask up and Keon lets the tears slip down his cheeks. Mera blinks her eyes and looks up at her father.

"Momma?"

The woman leans close and kisses Mera's cheek. Keon smiles and eases an arm around the woman posing as Summer. His voice is soft, murrmurred only for the two females in his embrace. "Aye moonchild. Now you know from where you get your beauty."

Spring slips from table Erik to Raina, then moves to the edge of the crowd to stand next to Winter. The two women wait patiently for the song to end. Autumn stands quietly beside Star as the woman and her husband hold each other, and their son, lost in the song. The first to notice her is Ruarc. The little boy watches her with wide eyes, then reaches out a hand to her. The woman lifts her mask slightly to kiss his palm. He giggles, drawing Star's attention. She stifles a gasp and reaches out for the woman's hand.

The voice is softly accented, and softly spoken. "We are here for but a little longer. I wanted to meet my grandson, and tell you I am proud of you."

The song winds its way to its end. Tori is blinking back tears by the time the men sing the last stanza.

For the first time.
Such a long time ago,
I had given up on finding this emotion,
Ever again.
But you're here with me now,
Yes I found you somehow,
And I've never been so sure.
For the first time, I am looking in your eyes,
For the first time, I'm seeing who you are,
Can't believe how much I see,
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is...
Love is...
For the first time.
For the first time

There is silence, then a smattering of applause that turns into more. The men bow in acknowledgement before moving to hug their sister and her husband. Ob leans close to Tori as Stoney leans close to Tannr, both send tightly sheilded, identical messages.

Someone is waiting in the Pavilion for you both.

The couple say the last of their goodbyes as they hurry to the green striped tent. Herne holds open the flap and nods as the pair slip inside. A globe of fae light illuminates the inside space. Spring and Winter take off their masks, smiling. Grace embraces the couple, wishing them all the happiness the world holds. Tara eyes Tori skeptically, finally nodding.

"Raina says you can bench press a bus. Is this true?"

The slim redhead grins. "More than a bus."

The Viking nods slowly. Her words are conversational, but there is a twinkle of mischief in her blue eyes. "My brother loves you. That is unmistakable. But he is a man, and like all the men in my family are prone to being... ^skítur höfuð."

Tannr's jaw drops at his sister's choice of words. "Tara,"

She holds up her hand imperiously and Tori hides a grin. "If he acts like one, drop a bus on him?"

"Of course, but I could just lift him up a few stories and drop him." The girl grins. "That would work also."

Tori holds out her hand to Tara and they shake. Tara turns to hug her brother. "I like her. Don't screw it up, ^skítur höfuð."

Tannr opens his mouth to scold and Tara stands on tiptoes to kiss her brother's cheek. "Shut up. Be good to her. I'll be checking in.  And remember... I have a direct link to the ancestors."

Grace laughs. She hands Tori a box and the pair slip outside. The couple look out the flap, intending to call them back, but all they see is the shadows of the night and an empty path. Back inside they open the box. Tannr pulls out a bottle of wine, a box of chocolate covered strawberries, a feather duster, and a bit of folded fabric. The fabric unfolds into a nightgown of sheerest pale green silk, trimmed in cream lace.

The attached card reads.

Congratulations, and enjoy! The Four Seasons

Outside, Raina awaits the couple. Nick leans against a tree, waiting. "Okay, Nick and I just wanted to see you both off." She hugs her brother as Nick leans forward for Tori to kiss cheeks. Under cover of the diversion, Raina slips the key to their place in Tannr's pocket.

Heading for Tori's Jeep, Tannr pulls Tori close for a kiss. As they break for air Tannr asks, "So... Red... what's with the feather duster?"

The redhead grins. "Doesn't every man have a fantasy about doing the maid?"

The sound of music drifts through the trees. Some tunes rock, others drift softly. romantically. People walking in other parts of the Park smile, remembering their own weddings, or wishing they were part of the group hidden somewhere deeper in the trees. Those who try to follow the music always end back where they started, or atleast a little down the path they were following.

A few shake their heads and continue on their way. Some mutter about old stories and faery misdirections. Still others just enjoy the night, dancing where they are. One elderly couple stop in the middle of a pebble path waltz to an old song. Unseen by all but the few fae hidden among the branches of a weeping willow, the years seem to drop from them. When the song ends, they walk on. With each step, the years slowly creep back into their being, but a liveliness of step, an aura of youth, remains. The fae nod in approval, knowing the recaptured vitality would stay with them for their remaining days.

The three Crows sit on a branch, dangling feet swinging in time to a song as People dance to celebrate their friend's wedding. Long dark hair sways, as they nod in tempo, fingers tapping out the rythm. It isn't long before they drop to the ground and join a group of Tori's kids where they stand clustered in the shadows. The tallest of the trio takes the hand of a younger girl and leads her out on the open green. He begins to move to the music, making her laugh, and encouraging her to do the same. Several others join them, all watching for any signs of disapproval from the other guests. Meeting only smiles, the kids let go their wariness and join in the fun.

Tori kisses Tannr gently and nods in their direction. His eyes follow hers, and he hugs her close. Have they eaten yet?

Ike catches the thought and drifts by one still watching the night shrouded trees. As she leans against a thick trunk, Miko buzzes from the tree to settle on her shoulder. The youth glances their way, then back into the darkness.

The fair Gargoyle lets out a loud burp and the kid jumps.

"Oops... sorry... The food is great... did you get any?" He shakes his head, turning back to watch the darkness. "You do know the demifae are patrolling the woods, right?"

The kid nods, still saying nothing. Another drops from the tree, landing nearly at Ike's feet. "Why?"

"It is a gift from the Demifae to Tori and Tannr. They are making the wedding safe from any intruders. Anyone not on their "list" will find their steps led back to their original path. If there are any that are questionable, Miko is brought a message and he checks them out. Tori wants you all to enjoy yourselves. That's why none of you are on Patrols tonight."

The two streetkids look at their friends dancing in the clearing. Miko buzzes for attention. "It ees as she says, muchacho. Check with Tori if you don't beleeve us, Or if not Tori, Lord Blackthorn ees covering security. Talk weeth the Heemself..." The Demifae turns to look where Keon is, swaying slightly. He grabs a hank of Ike's hair and points. "He ees over th.. there..."

The one who dropped from the tree slips through the crowd. He waits quietly until Keon turns to him. Moments later he is back, whispering in his friend's ear. The two grin at Ike before taking off. They watch as the duo stops with others, spreading the word. The kids begin to drift to the food tables, filling plates and then finding places on the ground to sit.

Miko leans close to Ike's ear. "They can seet at the tablessss..."

Ike laughs. "Aye, but they are used to doing things their own way." Miko hiccups. "Miko... are you drunk?"

The Demifae warrior lifts from her shoulder, wings buzzing erratically. "Si... but onlee a leetle.... onlee a leetle.. bit. Ees good honey..."

With that he drifts toward the gardens and curls up in an open flower. Moments later the Demifae is fast asleep.

Ike strolls down the path behind the children. The pipes end as she takes her place and the song begins anew, this time picked out on the strings of an acoustic guitar. Tori stands still, bemused by the sight of Tannr. Her lover has always been handsome to her eyes, but now... All she can think of is stripping jacket away, kissing her way down the V of his shirt before peeling the loose garment over his head. The leather breeches made her swallow. She tried not to lick her lips, just barely succeeding.

You look so beautiful. A Goddess. MY Goddess.

Not a Goddess, Coppertop, just me. She hides a grin in their thoughts. I was going for the nymph image...

The lust in his mental touch gives it an animalistic growl. I've seen nymphs... They don't hold a candle to you.

She feels a glow slide through her body. If it shows, she thinks to herself, I will be incandescent. A tug in her hair reminds her that she is still standing at the foot of the path. A soft voice whispers from among her wreath of flowers. "Lord Blackthorn plays for you."

Tori takes her first step, skirt parting to show a bit of bare leg and begemmed slippered foot. Ob's voice wends softly with the melody.

Are those your eyes?
Is that your smile?
I been looking at you forever,
Yet I never saw you before.
Are these your hands? Holding mine?
Now I wonder how I could have been so blind.
And for the first time, I am looking in your eyes.
For the first time, I'm seeing who you are.
I can't believe how much I see,
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is,
Love is...
For the first time...

Stoney's voice joins Ob's. Tenor and bass seem to add an elegance to each step their sister takes.

Can this be real?
Can this be true?
Am I the person I was this morning?
And are you the same you?
Its all so strange.
How can it be?
All along this love was right in front of me!
And for the first time, I am looking in your eyes.
For the first time, I am seeing who you are.
I can't believe how much I see,
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is...
Love is...

Ob's voice fades away as Stoney continues.

For the first time.
Such a long time ago,
I had given up on finding this emotion,
Ever again.
But you're here with me now,
Yes I found you somehow,
And I've never been so sure.
For the first time, I am looking in your eyes,
For the first time, I'm seeing who you are,
Can't believe how much I see,
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is...
Love is...

Ob and Keon join Stoney to end the song. The three male voices fade away as Tori comes to stand beside Tannr.

For the first time.
For the first time...

Tannr takes Tori's delicate hand in his larger one. Together they turn towards the robed form half hidden in shadows. The women move forward, one holding a goblet, another a chalice of wine. The other two hand the couple short pieces of red silk cord.

The voice that issues from beneath the hood is soothing, yet compelling. He intones a classic wedding opening, welcoming the friends and family in the eyes of the Almighty. A few cross themselves. Others touch emblems, still others simply smile, knowing who stands before them, and just whom he is invoking.

He speaks of love eternal, of finding the one person who fills a void your heart and soul did not even know was there. The wine is poured into the goblet as the rings are called forth.

"Who bears the rings?"

Tomas and Ryan move forward. The boys are extremely solemn as they hand the boxes to Erik and Marc. Once given they turn and walk very slowly to their places. Stoney hides a smile, sending to his son Very well done. Grace signs the words to Ryan nearly as soon as the children hear it. The boys grin.

"These rings signify the love unending. As you place it upon your beloved's finger, contemplate the commitment into which you are entering."

The rings slide in place and the two women have the couple clasp left hands. They take the cords and wrap them around the hands, entwining them in a complicated weave.

"Red is the blood of the Heart, the symbolic color of Love. Heart hands are bound, as your lives are now entwined before the witness of these assembled. What is sanctified within the purview of one's Faith, let no man tender interference. Tori Tavisham, Tannr Thorsson, do you swear to hold each other's heart, each other's soul with in the safeness of your own?"

There is no hesitation, and although there was no rehearsal of vows, it is as if the two were schooled intensely, for they answered in unison. "I do."

The cords are loosened, but not unwound. The couples' hands are slid out and the weave pulled tight. The ends are tucked inside and the complicated knot is handed to the robed Official.

"Hold out your left hands."

The couple do, and the knot is placed in their joined hands.

"A kiss to seal the promise."

The couple kiss gently, then press closer, forgetting the others until a the sound of applause intrudes and they break apart reluctantly. They are urged to turn towards the assembled people.

"With great satisfaction, and abounding joy, it is my honor to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Tannr Thorrson."

The small lights among the trees seem to fade into existence as shadows lengthen. Colored globes, set on poles, near the outside edges of the chair rows begin to softly glow. The summer flowers reflect small lights hidden in their beds, giving the gardens an ethereal ambience. The clearing is suddenly transformed from everyday fantasy to a step into Faery.

Silk smiles, knowing just how much is everyday electricity, and how much is Fae-wrought magic. Reed pipes are playing softly. The tunes are familiar, yet unfamiliar, due to the airy sound. The murmur of people is faint, and Ike reports the chairs are nearly filled. A hush falls over the assemblage as an antlered figure appears behind Tannr and his two groomsmen. Four women robed to match the seasons flank him. People whisper at the sight, some bow their heads in respect.

Stoney sends to Tori. Your Official is here, Petit Serpent. He sends her an image and Tori fights to hold back tears. She turns to her ladies, "Herne is here. So are the Four Seasons."

Keon pops his head in the pavillion. "Are ye ready ladies?" He smiles broadly, the white of his teeth startling against the pitch black of his skin. "Tori, ye look amazing. Not the hard ass bitch we all know and appreciate."

She throws a makeup brush at him and Keon laughs. "Ke... I can't tell ye how much I appreciate this. Ye hae done so much.."

"Ach ye nae say naught. Yer brogue is thick and ye hae tears in yer eyes. Tells me well enow. Asides lass, Erik is me sworn bro. Tannr is his brother. Makes him mine as well. So ye are coming into the Family. Tis only right we do it up Fair and Fae. I'll nae hae this chance agin til my wee one is grown."

His eartip twitches and Keon looks over the group. "Line up me hearties... That song is the cue to the march of the Attendants." He winks at the children. "Just as we practiced... Follow Tante Silk." He winks again and disappears.

The pipes still, then begin a sweet rendition of Rod Stewart's For The First Time. Silk shakes out the folds of her summer sky blue sari, the multi-hued embroidered flowers seeming to dance in the light reflected off hidden metallic threads. The pavilion flaps are held aside by Pike and Wish. head held high, dark glistening curls seemingly held in an elegant waterfall by clusters of flowers, The Huntress begins a stately walk towards Tori's future.

A full-length mirror had been set up in the pavilion. Tori stands before it and takes a deep breath. She felt strangely unfinished. Pandora was waiting to do her hair, and since she had doen nothing to it, it lay in short soft waves. Ike was waiting to do her makeup. Tori had worn none, not even her normal liner and mascara. Silk smiles encouragement and Tori slides the jacket off her shoulders. Silk hangs it up as the Gargoyle turns to her sister.

"Can you reach the zipper." Ike stares at her. Tori's reflection smiles at the blonde Gargoyle. "Can... you... reach... the... zipper?"

Ike lowers the bodice's zipper. Tori hands it to Silk and takes the deep plunge bra the Succubi Huntress hands her. She tugs it in place, snapping the front clasp. She sighs as she adjusts her small breasts in the cups.

"I guess I don't really need it..." She smooths the cups, fingering the beaded lace. She looks around at the women in the pavillion. "but it was so pretty... I couldn't resist."

Ike hugs her from behind. "It is gorgeous. But the straps will show."

"No they won't. Because the pantsuit was a decoy."

Ike blinks. "Decoy. Why?"

Tori turns to hug her sister. "Because, little sister, you have a big mouth... or should I say loose thoughts. I didn't want Tannr getting even an inkling of the real dress."

The low heeled boots find a spot under a bench and Ike helps her sister step out of the pale green slacks. Silk carefully hangs them, sets a box on a low stool. She removes the lid and lifts out a dress of the sheerest green chiffon. The skirt is layers of leaf-shaped petals extending from the waist to the floor. The bodice is pleated chiffon, sleeveless with a deep plunge. Tori unhooks the front, opening it like a robe. She turns and Silk slips it over her slim shoulders. She closes the clasps and it is as if the dress is all one piece. Ike whistles softly.

"Wow... Where did you get this?"

Tori grins. "Believe it or not... Keon. Wait until you see the slippers." Silk hands her a pair of low pumps adorned with chiffon leaves and tiny flowers. She slips them on her feet and turns. "What do you think?"

There are smiles all around. Tori settles in a chair and Pandora begins to dress her hair. The soft waves become soft curls, with the aide of hot rollers and Witch powers. A flap is opened, facing into the trees, to alleviate the smell of hairspray.

A coughing fit betrays the hiding place of several demifae. Star scolds them gently, but they profess to be guarding the back opening against the intrusion of the menfolk. Pandora smiles and promises to be more careful with the spray.

Silk offers Tori a small box containing a pair of sheer fingerless gloves. They are nearly colorless, the wrists adorned with tiny silk flowers of blue, lavender, white and pink. "Something blue... What do you have in old and new? The dress does not count."

Pandora laughs. "Does the custom count as something old?" Silk shakes her head with a smile.

Fingers stroke along the ever-present viper lying just above her breastline. Tori licks her lips. "Something old... My Viper from Tannr."

Silk hands her another box. "Ob sent you something old. The perfect accessory for your dress."

It takes the redheaded Gargoyle a moment before she can pick up the narrow belt. It resembles a dark green garter snake, the pattern of the scales picked out in dark and light green enamel, pale gold and silver for the three racing stripes.  Silk wraps it around Tori's waist and snaps it shut. Twin emerald eyes twinkle as Tori moves.

"It was my aunt's. She wore it in honor of Ob's stepfather. He had an affinity for scaled creatures and was talented with metalwork."

Ike purses her lips. "Sooo... Something Old, Borrowed, and Blue... dress and flowers don't count as New."

Ike places the ring of bespelled flowers on Tori's head, Star adjusts it slightly and then reaches into the box that held the flower arrangements. She holds out a small box to Tori. "Something New... a wedding gift from Tannr."

Tori's eyes widen. She lifts out one earring, a fall of teardrop shaped gems that dangle about 3 inches. Tears fill her eyes as she fastens them in her lobes. Peridots and diamonds shimmer in the pavillion's light. Ike hands her a tissue.

"Sit. I need to do your makeup... and you need to stop the tears or it will run." When Tori is finally tear-free, Ike begins to apply shadow and liner for a very light effect. When she is finished, Tori doesn't look like the woman everyone is used to seeing. Gone is the hard, rocker styling, replaced by a woman who could easily be mistaken for the ethereal Fae.

The crow alights on the railing. It cocks its head and caws as Keon touches the buzzer for Tori, or what is soon to be Tori and Tannr's, apartment. Glancing over his shoulder Keon takes a step to his left, effectively hiding the bird from the street.

It shudders. Ruffling feathers, the bird puffs itself up in size. Moments later a young man dressed in black, with a mane of ragged black hair, stands before the Dark Lord.

"She's not there." He smiles, the expression taking years away, making him seem much younger. "Can't have Tannr coming back for something and seeing her before the wedding." He glances around, lowering his voice. "If its trouble, take it to the Doc."

A bright smile lights the Dark Lord's face as he taps the box under his arm. "Good news, Talon. The dress is here."

The kid grins and a squawk sounds overhead. Both look up as another crow circles and flies off. The kid's words seem to come from a ball of feathers as he shifts back into his animal form.

"The twins take word. Viper is at Grace's old place. She will be expecting you."

The bird launches upward, catching a thermal and chases after the other.

A pizza delivery is in progress as Keon approaches the shop. The boxes disappear around the side of the building as Tori's night clerk pays for the stack of pies. She nods to Keon, gesturing to the back of the shop with her head.

"She's waiting." Keon takes the stairs two at a time. The door to the rooms upstairs opens as he reaches the landing. A white-faced Tori gestures him inside. He sets the box on a table and only then does he realize there are several people in the room.

Ob and Pandora are sitting on the couch, Tori's laptop open on the low table in front of them. He can hear Traeger's voice. Teri is reaching toward the screen, trying to touch "Poppy". Chloe looks up at his entrance, waves, and goes back to watching her grandfather.

"You are having family time. Don't let me interfere." As he turns to go, Tori lays a hand on his arm.

"Stay. I want your opinion on something."

She takes the box and goes into the bedroom. Ob looks at the closed door and tells his family to close their thoughts tight. He grins at Keon as the Sidhe take a seat, waiting for Tori to return. Pandora turns the laptop, so Traeger can see Tori when she emerges.

Chloe giggles and explains aloud to Teri. "Tante Tori don't want Tante Ike to see her dress, cause Tante Ike is... she is no bueno, not good, at secrets."

The little boy blinks at his sister, then stares at the door. A look of fierce concentration comes over his face. Keon reaches for the diaper bag beside the couch and Ob laughs.

"It isn't what you think, amigo. He is just blocking his Aunt from reading his thoughts." A loud sound, followed by a noxious smell, erupts from the boy. "Well maybe you were right. too."

Ob takes his son and checks his diaper. He tosses the boy up, catching him easily. The toddler laughs. "*Usted pequeño monstruo. Tú apestas!" The boy giggles and puts a hand over mouth and nose. "SI! Peee-yooooo Teri!"

The bedroom door opens and Tori peeks out. "Block what you see. I don't want Ike knowing. She'll see it tomorrow.."

She waits a moment, finally emerging. She takes a step into the room and the skirt parts slightly, exposing a bit of bare leg. When she stops moving it closes as if seamless.

"What do you think?" There is silence, Finally Traeger breathes "beautiful..." as if the word was never uttered before.

Tori blushes, her pale cheeks flaming as red as her hair. Her hands press at her cheeks. "I've never worn anything like this. The picture was a short dress. I told Keon what I had in mind and he said he knew just who to make it." She glides across the floor, pale green chiffon-like fabric fluttering with each step. She clasps her hands as she stands before Keon, unsure of herself. "I know a person should never thank a Fae..." She licks her lips, "But... Keon, I dinna ken what ta say but I - "

The Dark Lord waves his hand, stopping her with the gesture. "Ye have slipped into brogue. That tells me far more than you can say." He grins and stands, taking Tori's hands in his. "Besides, I was right. Mab's seamstress did wonders. It is perfect." Before Tori can say anything, Keon confides. "The Dark Queen's head seamstress owed me a favor. She no longer does."

Tori's fingers stroke the fabric in wonder. "It won't turn into leaves and moss by morning, will it?"

Keon laughs. "No, not this." At the curious looks on the children's faces, Keon drops onto the floor. "Let me tell you the story of the greedy man who sought to cheat a young peasant who had the favor of a Fae maiden." He launches into the tale as Pandora and Tori talk hair and jewelry.

Ob's voice pulls at his attention. He tells the children to give him a minute. Ob is asking what she is doing instead of a veil. Keon laughs. "That is already solved." Three heads turn his way. Keon smiles. "Star... need I say more?"

Tori asks what Star has in mind and Keon describes the floral ring. Tori begins to tear. Pandora hands her a tissue. As she wipes her eyes, the Gargoyle tells them. "When I was married in the Highlands, I was made to wear a wimple and head torque with a covering veil. What I wanted was a ring of flowers, like the girls in the village where Ike and I would spend time." She stifles a sob. "I need to take this off. Pan, please help me? I don't want to tear it."

The women disappear into the bedroom and Ob settles on the arm of the couch. "Finish the story Keon, I've never heard this version." The Sidhe Lord obliges and the children are giggling at the greedy man opening his chest of "gold" to find autumn leaves and bits of moss when the women return.

"So you are willing to forgo your usual spikes for soft curls... What about jewelry?"

Tori sighs. "The necklace is a given. The viper that Tannr gave me. Nothing replaces that. Traeger's apprentice gave me a cleaning kit so I will be polishing it tonight." She glances at Ob. "No. No bachelorette party. I am spending the night relaxing and tomorrow as stone. When I wake I will wear the pantsuit to the park. Silk has a pavillion that will be waiting for me. She is picking up the dress tonight and keeping it safe until I arrive." She reaches up to touch an ear. "The only thing I haven't figured out is earrings."

Pandora offers her the loan of a pair of emerald studs. Tori accepts with a sigh. "I just wish I could find something that dangles..."

*You little monster. You stink!"

Oh, knock it off. Tori sighs. Ike is still pissed over her showing them the pantsuit. She'll get over it. Or.. resign to the fact that her sister isn't going to let someone else dictate to her what her wedding was going to be like. That happened once before. It wasn't happening again. Stop being catty. Ike.

Catty? I am NOT being catty. I am being totally... I am... I am disappointed! Pants? I mean really.. Pants? Why won't you even thi...

GWYN! Stop! Listen to me!

Ike's complaints still instantly. The last time she was called Gwyn was the night they decided to let their given names lie hidden to start a new life. This life has been one that took them through several countries, and helped them find a place they actually thought of as Home. She listens more closely to what her older sister has to say.

Traeger needs help. He has found the Tavish Hills, but is having trouble. It seems he ran into Crag. The arrogant ass wants proof that Pan's da wants the clay for members of the Tavish Hill Nestings.

Oh Goddess... Crag... It had to be Crag. You don't think he'll... Oh Goddess...

No. He won't come here. He has too much to lose if he leaves the Hills. Besides, we were the banes of his existence. The two females he couldn't bully. Relax... so what should we tell Traeger? I don't want to give our Goddess names....

She can feel the slow smile that creeps across Ike's thoughts. The Summer Sisters. Isn't that what the villagers called us? Taryn and Lynn?

Tori laughs. Knoll and Lake... Of course... There were several of us known by those names. Her fingers fly over the keys, telling Traeger the use names, so common among the Tavish Hill Nest females. If he describes them as they are now, it wouldn't matter. Last time Crag saw the sisters, Tori's hair was waist length and Ike was still young enough to be nearly flat chested. Now... Tori sported a short spiky do, and Ike would put Pamela Anderson's voluptious figure to shame. Tori smiles in satisfaction as she sits back in her chair.

Done.

Ike sends a sighs. I never thought to need those names again. Do you remember the little cottage we kept on the edge of the village?

Our escape... The sisters reminisce ninety plus years of adventure, boredom, frustrations, and joys. They are open to the family path, and are well aware of the others listening. Tori feels Tannr's arms slide around her and she leans into his embrace. The tension between the girls eases, fading completely by the time they reach their coming to Exton. Their minds embrace, entwining as they hug mentally.

I'm sor

Laughter, a sound of true amusement, erupts as they realize they are both saying the same thing at the same time. Ob snickers, his voice heard as an echo through many minds. About time...

Tannr opens the door, letting Tori move past him with a large box. She smiles sweetly at Ike as she moves into the private dining room. Ob looks at Stoney and Tannr, raising a brow. Tannr turns slightly to hide his expression from Ike. He presses his lips tight and rolls his eyes.

"She has something to show the ladies after dinner." He glances back at the room, keeping his words on a very narrow path meant only for the men. "And it is going to piss Ike off in a very big way."

Dinner goes by the way most family dinners do, thanks to the children. Tomas announces, very vehemently, that he and Ryan are NOT wearing flower shirts. The girls tease that the boys need flowers in their hair. Alise and Stoney steer the children onto neutral ground and promise Tomas no flower shirts.

Tori keeps her thoughts tightly sheilded. Ike keeps trying to work around the edges and Tori soundly ignores her. Dinner done, she asks her brothers to watch the children and takes the ladies to the private room. When the door closes, Tori smiles a sweet, and very vicious, smile.

"I have not been the most... compliant of brides. I know that. But I said in the very beginning that I am not looking for this to be a formal wedding. Pan, Star, Alise, your weddings were traditional in their own ways." She turns to her sister. "Ike, you have never been married before. remember something little sister... I was. I was forced into a marriage that was... Let's just say I am not going that route. I love you. I love all of you, but it is MY wedding. That said..." She turns and opens the box. "This is what I thought I would wear on my wedding day."

The silk is the palest of ice green. The strapless bodice is tight fitted, decorated with crystals and pale green pearls. A sheer split overskirt follows. It isn't until she shakes out a pair silk flare legged pants that Ike begins to simmer.

"Pants! Tori, NO! No! Not pants! Don't you want a dress? Something princess like, or classic? The top, the over skirt... great! Tell me there is a skirt in there!"

Tori is calm, eyes reflecting nothing but their natural emerald color.

"Deal with it Ike. This is what I am wearing on my wedding day." She smiles again. "So dress issue solved,"

Ike cuts her off. "NO... Not solved. Tori."

The redhead stares at her sister. There is no fire, no fight, in her eyes, just the flat expression of a bored snake. Ike's mouth snaps shut. She knows she can talk until she is out of breath and Tori will not budge. After a few moments of silence Tori continues.

"Star, I was thinking of baskets for the girls." The gargoyle blushes slightly. "I went back to the shop last night and bought a yard of the fabric for the girl's dresses. I know the flowers are stylized, but can we find flowers similar? Even if it is only colors?" She pulls out her ipod and taps the screen. "Keon is bringing me something from Faery. He told me a story of undying love that circles around roses that change their color. In the story, they end up a beautiful blue. He knows of a strain that slowly changes. He promised two dozen to mix in with regular flowers." She watches Star's eyes begin to swirl as her mind goes into high motion. "He said to let him know if they will not be enough. His sister grows them. If there is anything you need help finding, he offers his aid."

She turns to Alise, Pandora, and Ike. "As for anyone else's outfits, wear what you want. All I ask is that no one wear green, and that the colors reflect the colors in the girls dresses."

She turns and packs up the pantsuit, hiding the smile caused by Ike's frustration. Without another word, the blonde Gargoyle leaves the room, heading straight to Monty. He hands her a glass of ice water and follows her into the kitchen.

Pandora shakes her head. "That was mean Tori. When are you going to show her the real dress."

"When she stops showing her catty side and realizes I don't want to be a princess. The sketch I saw was exactly what I want. It is being made now, in the color and similar fabric as the pantsuit. Plus, Ike can't keep her mouth shut about pretty clothes. If she saw the real dress, Tannr would be sure to find out."

Box closed, Tori entrusts the package to Jeb's care, where two demifae sprawl out on the lid as backup.

Each step shakes the floor. Tannr watches as the furious redhead paces the apartment before finally heading out onto the enclosed balcony. He moves to the doorway, keeping out of her way. Several times he has tried to touch her mind, only to find it closed tight. She was like this when she came home in the early hours of the morning, and rose with flames dancing in the brilliant emerald of her eyes.

She stills, watching the vivid pinks and blues deepen into indigo and the near black purple of rain heavy clouds at sunset. Her gaze shifts, taking in the rooftops. Tannr knows what she is looking at, even if he still can't touch her thoughts. Her people are out there, patrolling, watching for signs that all is not well. Her "nest of snakes", the streetwise kids, more organized than anyone could know, reporting to her or Mortuis as needed. Movement catches her eye and she stares, viper still.

His thoughts touch hers, tentative, waiting for her to allow him entrance. She lifts her shields, just enough to let him see the tight control, but not pushing him out. Moments later his arms slide around her slim waist. She remains tense. His body presses close, fitting to her lean form. It takes a few moments, but she relaxes slightly and rests her head back on his shoulder.

His jaw slides along her cheek. The rasp of his stubble raises an involuntary shiver and she moans softly. He seeks for clear thought and finds none, just a heated haze of frustration, and to his regret not sexual in nature. His lips find the curve of her ear and he murrmurrs. "Talk to me Red."

She moves away slightly and he tightens his arms, dropping small kisses on the back of her neck. Tori closes her eyes, but stops moving away.

"I love my sister..."

Tannr hides a smile as he nuzzles her short hair.

"She is driving you insane, isn't she?" Tori turns in his arms, sliding her own around his neck. "How can ye tell.?"

Tannr chuckles. "Your brogue only comes out when you are frustrated, not angry. And... the ONLY one that makes you that crazy is Ike."

Tori grits her teeth. Her words nearly hiss. "How can she just... SHOP! This was supposed to be a fun time out for the girls and she made it a FREAKING CIRCUS! By the Gods... all I heard was 'You need to choose a color for the wedding. What style wedding do you want? What about flowers? What are the guys wearing? Who's standing up for Tannr?' Goddess! I wanted to throw her into the side of a mountain!"

He leans his forehead against hers, speaking softly. "You didn't want to shop?"

"Actually... no." Tori sighs. "I wanted Pandora to have something other than Connor to think about."

Tannr grins. "I bet you and Ike at each others' throats definitely gave her something else to think about."

A smile twists Tori's lips. Her teeth bare, fangs showing in what could have been rage, but turns into a full-throated belly laugh. When Tori finally catches her breath, she kisses her intended soundly.

"Thank you, Coppertop... I never thought of it that way."

Thursday, August 30, 2012

The sun has set, and still Ob has not stirred. His mind is deep, sleeping. Not comatose, his family would be worried with that, but actually sleeping a dreamless peaceful sleep. No scorpions, no pain, not even what he had been unconciously draining from Tannr.

Pandora has slipped inside for something to drink when the sound of a heartbeart begins to pulse on the fringes of her mind.

boom boom da-boom, boom boom da-boom boom, boom boom da-boom, boom boom da-boom boom

She listens closer turning to peer out the doors at Ob's stone form. He hasn't moved and she reaches out to touch his mind with hers. The touch of his hand closes over hers, the feel of his thumb sliding over her palm, a soft whisper of te amo mi Bruha... backed by the rhythmic sound.

After another round of throbbing beats, they drop an octave, rising again after another set.

Stoney raises his head from the notes he has been putting down on the paper on his keyboard. He has been having trouble with the music, half lost in supporting both Tannr and Ob's healing. The throb brings to mind a song that Ike used to sing when they played gigs in the eighties and nineties. The next set of heartbeats is backed by the sound of brushes on drumheads and a few drawn out notes. His mind is open, sharing his music with his sibs and Kin.

Tori's fingers tap, playing the pulses on Tannr's palm. She picks up where Stoney is going with it. Her voice is quiet, husky with emotion from her own heart as well as her brothers'. Raina and Rowan look at her as her voice slowly gains strength.

Baby, don't understand
Why we can't just hold on to each other's hands?
This time might be the last I fear unless
I, make it all too clear I need you so, ohh

Take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Take these broken wings....

Tannr raises her hand to his lips and kisses her knuckles. In the cottage through the woods Stoney loses himself in the song, his voice combining with Tori's for those who can use the common family mental path. And yet, he sings for his wife alone, in his heart. Ob's voice curls around Pandora's heart and caresses her soul.

Baby, I think tonight
We can take what was wrong and make it right
Baby, it's all I know that you're half of the flesh
And blood that makes me whole, I need you so.

So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in
Yeah, yeah

The music changes beat, and Tori moves, rocking to the new rhythm as she sings. Ike's voice joins as she wakes.

Let us in...
Let us in...

Pandora drifts onto the patio as Ob rises from his stone sleep. His voice echoes as it issues from stone turning to flesh. But what brings tears to her eyes is the way his voice takes control of the notes, dancing the scales as he opens his arms to his wife.

Baby, it's all I know that you're half of the flesh
And blood that makes me whole
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

His wings spread wide, rising above them. They tremble in the slight breeze and he breathes deep

So take these broken wings
And learn to fly again, learn to live so free
And when we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up and let us in

Take these broken wings
You got to learn to fly, learn to live and love so free
When we hear the voices sing
The book of love will open up for us and let us in
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, ooh

His dragon wings fold around them as his reptilean form softens to hard muscled flesh under her hands. Her fingers seek the base of his wings, feeling hard muscles. The scar reveals itself to her touch and he flexes slightly, letting her feel the movements of healing muscles. He winces, hiding it from his thoughts, although Pandora can see it in the tic of his jaw. His large hands cup her ass and he launches them upwards. Ob stays aloft for only a few moments, before landing a little roughly. The concern in her eyes brings a lopsided grin.

"Mi Mujer... I am whole. I can work on regaining muscle strength..."

Alise is smiling by the time the song has ended. Stoney wraps his arms around her and lowers his face into her honeygold waves. They hear the children cheering and hooting in the other room. He sighs, laughing at their antics.

"Think they know that Ob is awake?"

Tori kisses Tannr, running her fingers over him. He winces, showing pain he hadn't felt before. She searches his mind, finding the drain Ob had linked between them, knowing what he feels now is nothing like it would have been without Ob's intervention.

He gives her a small smile. His voice is nearly a groan. "I heard... Ob singing...?"

Tori grins. "Yes. He's awake." She frowns. "A lot of pain?"

The Viking nods slowly. "Ob took away his... whatever he was doing."

Rowan comes over with a needle. "This will help some..."

Monday, July 23, 2012

A knock draws Tori's attention from fussing over Tannr. She finishes adjusting his blanket and crosses the room to open the door. She isn't surprised to see Marc standing behind Rowan. The healer steps past Tori as she tells her "Tannr just fell asleep."

Rowan nods and starts checking tubes. Tori motions for Marc to come further into the room. The Gargoyle looks paler than usual, thinner. Her eyes seem larger and almost haunted. A greyness tinges her pale skin and there are dark smudges beneath her eyes.

"How's Tannr?" Marc looks past her to where his Commander lay sleeping.

Tori looks at the bed, sighing deeply. "Better..."

Marc follows her as she drifts back to Tannr's bedside. He watches as she gently strokes her fingers over the blanket.

"But?"

He moves closer as Tori makes room for him. She looks up at the monitors and shakes her head. "Rowan is better to ask. Tannr is better, but not making as much progress as they hoped." She looks at Marc. "How is everyone else? Tannr will want to know."

Something flits through Marc's eyes and Tori half smiles. She has seen that expression many times in the past. Before marc can say anything, she waves a hand. "Better to report to Tannr. If you wait just a bit, he will wake up. He never sleeps long..." Her words taper off as Tannr groans.

"Like I said, if you are willing to wait, he will wake up soon."

Rowan calls her name and Tori sighs. "I am about to be scolded."

The healer picks up a sandwich that hasn't been touched and shows it to the gargoyle. Tori shrugs. "I'm fine. I am just not hungry."

Rowan looks at Tannr. She takes Tori by the arm and escorts her to the door, saying. "We are going to the kitchen and you are going to eat something more than coffee and toast." When Tori opens her mouth to argue, Rowan cuts her off. "First, If you don't, I will get Stoney to carry you down and sit on you until you eat. Second, Marc is here." She looks meaningfully at Marc as she scolds Tori. "I understand you have not left this room for more than ten minutes at a time. Marc will make sure Tannr does not fall out of bed, or try to walk without help. And third... you need a bath... when was the last time you did more than wash in the sink."

As she pushes a reluctant Tori out the door, she nods to Marc. "I think I can keep her out of here for maybe half an hour. If you need us, just shout. We'll know."

The food is good. At least she knew the food was good... it just tasted like cardboard in her current sensory situation. Picking at the food on the tray, Tori stares at the grey shading of her pale skin. A heavy sigh escapes her lips. She breathes deep and takes a swig of the strong coffee someone thoughtfully provided.

I will not continue to fall apart... I will not continue to fall apart...

Her gaze follows Rowan as she moves around Tannr until she intercepts Alise' lavender eyes. They stare at each other for a few moments until Tara reaches up to tug at her mother's hand. Tori lowers her eyes to her tray and takes another sip, making sure her shields are up tight. She feels a nudge at her walls and tightens them even more. Behind her there is a rapid exchange of French and she hides another sigh.

The weight of a hand on her shoulder doesn't surprise her. Rather, she has been expecting it.

 "I am fine."

Her brother bends his knees, lowering his long frame so he is face to face with her. His long black hair is hanging loose, a style he wore when they were nothing but four Gargoyles trying to make it in a Human world. He stares at her for a few moments, tucking it behind his ears. She closes her eyes, fighting more tears.

"You lie. And... you are doing it badly."

"Shut... up."

"Your walls are tight. Your skin is grey. There is grey in your hair spikes... and... Mon Deiu! You cried emeralds! How the hell you cried emeralds with ruby fire lines... never mind that now. But..." he shakes his head, hair slipping out from behind his ears. "You cried gemstones..."

Her gaze meets his for the first time. Stoney stares at her eyes. "Tori, your eyes have grey in them. You are trying to rein in your emotions. Don't. I remember all too well what it was like when that maniac werewolf had Alise. I could only touch her mind to mind. You have Tannr here, right in front of you. Let your human heart help you through this, don't go Gargoyle and block your emotions. True, Alise wasn't hurt as severely as Tannr is, but he is in the best hands. You know that."

He touches her cheek, cupping Tori's narrow face in his large hand. "He will not think less of you for your tears. Neither will any of us. *Petite sœur... He loves you, he needs you. Be true to both of you. Who knows... your tears may be what he needs, or perhaps knowing you cry for him will let him know the depth of your devotion."

She closes her eyes for a moment, reaching out to touch Ob for just a moment before touching Tannr's mind in a caress. "Ob is..."

"Ob lives. He has gone stone, and will probably stay that way for several days. His wing was..." He swallows. "His wing was torn from his back, but they managed to clean out anything not Ob." He grins. "He will not be sporting his long dreds when he wakes. Silk had to break them off to get enough matching gravel to make the healing mud."

Her eyes widen. "How short?" A slim hand reaches up to touch her own spiked do.

"Not as short. His horns are about ten inches long, so his hair will be maybe shoulder length. We won't know until he can change back to flesh." At her nod, Stoney stands up, towering above her. "Eat, get rest, keep yourself open to Tannr. The hell with the rest of us. Tara says... Tara knows too much for a little girl. Tannr will need you to be strong. You keep his will to live alive. Rowan and Mortuis will do their best to keep the rest of him alive."

He leans down to hug her tight. whispering. "And you know we are only a thought away if you need the family's support."

She nods and pushes the tray away. Stoney scoops up Tara and kisses the very tired little girl before taking her from the room. Tori watches them go, then crosses to Tannr's bedside. She leans close, kissing him just below the ear. "Coppertop... you better..." Her voice breaks and a tear slips down her cheek. It makes a pinking sound as it drops to the floor.

He looks up at her, eyes slightly unfocused. "Red... Why are you so... grey?"

His eyes drift shut and Tori kisses his jaw. "Because you are tearing my heart out, you ass. That, and it is getting closer to sunrise. Sleep. rest. When I go stone, I will only be a thought away."

The others have gone. Some to rest. Raina and Erik, she knows, are just outside in the hall. Even though Tori knows Tannr is in the best of hands with Mortuis and Rowan, she can't resist mentally touching him for confirmation.

His mind is quite, lost in a realm just beyond sleep, but not quite as close to death as when she first searched him. An image of his battered, dying body slips into her thoughts and Tori shoves it out before it can translate itself to Tannr. She smiles a little and follows his energy, seeking the work that was performed on her lover. She can feel his pain, but knows to take it away would mask things best left to be seen.

Once content to know everything that could be done has been done, the Gargoyle kisses his forehead. Murmuring against his feverish skin she whispers of her love, and that if he doesn't come back to her, she will seek him out in the Afterworlds to kick his Viking ass. Closing her eyes, a stray tear slips from her control.

Her voice cracks slightly as she observes to her comatose lover, "You know, for someone known as the Right Hand of Death, Mortuis has been working very hard to save our assorted hides..."

"Si... He ees not quite what the world knows of heem."

Tori looks around at the voice. She has rarely seen Ob's cousin as anything but the self assured woman he looks up to. But now the signs of fatigue are unmistakable, as is the worry that adds lines around the Rom/Succubus' darkly exotic eyes. Her casual jeans and T-shirt are also something that Tori has never seen. Silk smiles tiredly.

"Mi Cooza ees resting comfortably as possible. Pandora ees weeth heem for now. She has a spot to sleep where she can see heem when she goes to her rest. We have applied more clay as the first withdrew into the wound. Perhaps another two applications will be needed as well. Malachite ees tending to heem until she weell need to rest as well."

Tori reaches out to touch her sister, her brother, and his mate as Silk checks Tannr's IV. Ob... I am... oh Goddess... I forgot to...

Her brother chuckles, a wince translating through their mental link. Don't. Tannr's care was the more immediate.

She licks her lips, He wouldn't have this chance if it wasn't for you.

Thank his men. They got him out, I just kept the thing occupied.

She would have argued, but she knows Ob saw it exactly as he told her. Anyone else hurt? No one else was brought to us.

Ob is silent for several long minutes. We lost Hugh. He went down fighting. They brought his body out though. Tannr has a good team. I am hoping Lily's little present did its magic. and we hear from them soon.

She feels his mind drift as Ike slips something cool along the base of a wing.

Rest sis.. You won't do him any good if you don't.

Pandora touches Ob's mind, reminding him of the same thing. The love between them is obvious and Ob bends to his wife's will.

Caio Tori... will look in on you when I am awake...

He fades away, leaving Tori with her thoughts. She reviews the images that were behind Ob's words, seeing the reality of the skirmish. Breathing deep. Tori fights for calm.

I will not fall apart... I will not fall apart...

The scream isn't physical. It starts deep, soul deep, welling up until it echoes across the psychic bridge between worlds. Tomas runs for his father as soon as the sound starts, scared for his aunt. Stone grinds as Tori rises, dust sifting as her wings begin to unfurl. It is still too early for Tori to regain her flesh, being younger than her brothers.Another hour, maybe two and she would have woken as woman instead of gargoyle.

Stoney is suddenly there before her, flesh becoming granite. He grapples with her as she hisses, stone fangs flashing as she struggles in his grip.

Enough! Roisin Sky Tavisham! Enough! Think! Mon Deiu! You can not go to him this way! They are bringing him home. He needs you calm. He will need your strength as you needed his! Listen to me!

Slitted marbles of emerald green focus slowly on his mastiff features. lids blink slowly, grinding small bits of dust which fall, shifting, to leave dots of wet on grey stone scale. Her head hangs forward as a great sob, racks her body. Stoney shakes her once, getting her attention again.

...grip. Do you hear me? They are on their way back. Tannr and Ob are going to need our help. Can you... Tori... Focus!

She blinks. Movement brings her gaze downward. Tomas stands by her side, small wings spread wide, a grim expression across his small face. Ryan stands ready, large stones gripped in his small hands. She blinks again and stone dust turns to tears. She nods to her brother.

"I am good." The sound of her voice grates, harsh with pain. "Tannr and Ob are coming home, injured. I... Pan... I need to let Pan know."

Stoney nods, glancing at the boys. "Ob hasn't told us how bad he is, Tannr is worse, Ob is up and moving."

Tomas blinks up at his father. "Chloe says her daddy is hurting. He won't let them think to him. I tol' her he's comin home."

Stoney nods. Tori closes her eyes, wrapping taloned fingers around her arms, fighting for calm. Pan... Ob and Tannr are on their way... Will let you know as soon as there is anything to know. I promise.

She can feel the strength in Pandora's quiet acceptance. A small smile settles in the back of Tori's mind as she feels Pandora gathering magic. The moments build into a solid power. Pandora turns her thoughts back to Tori, assuring her that any spell she has is ready and waiting for their call. And, she was on her way to the Cabin.

After telling Tannr to abort and come home if things don't go as planned, Tori closes her link to him so as not to interfere with his concentration. She lets Tomas touch her surface thoughts only, knowing all too well what happens when she sleeps. All Tomas picks up is memories of watching cartoons with his Tante Tori.

The dream begins....

She wakes in human form, arms chained wide above her head, legs spread wide, chained to the floor. Blood drips from her cut lip. She licks at the corner of her mouth, wincing.

"Ah, You are awake." The voice causes a twisting in her gut. The arrogance, the utter contempt mixed with speculation leaves no guessing who it is... The Head Priest.

"I decided to speak to the Priestess. Being a sacrifice is an honor, but I think she likes my idea better. You are unique. You take soooo much punishment. I think her favorite Warriors will like you very much."

He steps in front of her and strokes his hands over her bare breasts. She shudders, flinching away. He smiles and bends his head closer. "Fight me. You know I like that." When she turns her head away, he grabs her face and forces a kiss, thrusting his tongue down her throat. She gags and he pulls away, laughing. Tori spits in his face and he casually backhands her, drawing fresh blood.

"That's it! Show me that spirit. I won't let them break you too soon. Most of the Warrior caste likes a fighter. Rape is so much more fun that a docile piece of ass."

She glares at him, green eyes flaring.

"There it is... the sign that you aren't a pitiful human. I wonder... What would happen if we bred you? Would the offspring be able to change to stone as you do?"

As he talks, the Priest pinches her nipple. When all she does is wince, he pinches harder, twisting. She yelps and he smiles. He motions to someone behind her. A servant moves to his side and divests him of his robes. The Priest is half hard, aroused by his taunting her. Once the robes are set aside, the boy kneels and begins to stroke the Priest's erection. The man grabs the boy's hair and forces his head to the growing shaft. Once the boy opens his mouth, the Priest shoves his cock deep, making the servant gag. As the boy chokes, the Priest laughs when Tori closes her eyes.

"You, my little changeling, will be my personal whore. You will be the mother of a whole new breed of Warrior. And in between birthing brats for the Priestess, you will be chained to my bed. I will use you when and how I like."

He shoves the servant away and shoves two fingers up her still dry channel. The Priest smiles cruelly.

"Well... since that didn't get you ready, I think I will apply the whips and clamps while my boy services you. I will teach you to enjoy pain and pleasure together, my pet."

The servant boy moves in, sliding his hands over her mound. She bites her lip, fighting the sensations as the boy begins to play with her. A whimper escapes and then a scream as the whip snaps across her back, drawing blood.  This goes on and on until she is shaking. The boy moves away and a Guard takes his place before her. His shaft is thick, totally engorged from watching the servant pleasure her. He grins as she screams again. The Priest has reached around from behind and closed sharp toothed clamps on her nipples. The Guard leans forward to lick at the small specks of blood around the clamps.

He looks over her shoulder at the priest. He grins at her and grips her hips lining himself up. The Guard shifts, trying to work himself into Tori's channel. She fights him, squeezing her muscles tight. The Drow laughs. She feels hands on her ass, spreading her cheeks.

Breath hot on her neck, she hears the Priest whisper in her ear. "That's it, fight us. I am going to fuck your ass as this Guard and several others fuck you until you pass out." His tongue licks slowly along her throat. "I love the feel of your blood. It makes me even harder." He thrusts his hips, shoving against her tight ring.

As the Priest and Guard shove their way into her unwilling body, Tori hears Tannr's voice.

Sleep well Red...no more nightmares...

The scene fades, slipping away into nothingness. Tori waits, shaking inside. Moments pass and she reaches out to touch Tannr. Relief floods her at the image of the dead Priest. She begins to close off the link when Ob's battle roar echoes across from Tannr's end.

GO! That's Ob's battle roar. Get out of there! Move Coppertop!
