"Rain," I begin. "I didn't know your sister... but I know you. I know your spirit. If you failed, it was because no one could have succeeded. Your sister knows that; your father knows it. The only person who doesn't know it is you."

"But you're right about one thing: it's too late to save Tara." She looks up at me, eyes dark with grief. "It's not too late to save Alise. Needle-dick hasn't had her that long, and we have a shitload of shifters on our side. They can search this town from one end to the other, go places none of us can go. They'll find her - and they'll find him." My eyes glow for just a second.

"But we have to deal with him when we catch him. The old bastard that gave me Johnny Corkscrew and taught me how to use him would insist that we put the miserable motherfucker on trial. I'm not in favor of that - but we owe a lot of people closure on this. The kids whose friends suffered at his hands. Those of us who care for Alise" - I've spoken the words before I realize what I've just said - "Stoney most of all. Much as I'd love to, we can't just kill him. We have to bring him to justice." My eyes harden. "Then we can kill him."
