Rowan taps lightly on the bathroom door and enters. She can hear Star retching and waits patiently for her to come out of a stall. When Star emerges she looks pale and drawn, dark circles under her eyes which are red from crying.
Rowans heart melts for the girl she has cared for almost as a mother since they have known each other. “Honey, come here....whats wrong?” She wraps her arms around Star and holds her close, pushing the silver blonde hair out of her face.
“I dd..dont know. I didnt mean to hurt Guunnars feelings. I just dont feel good and I dont feel like eating, just the smells...” Star shakes her head, hoping Rowan understands.
Rowan sighs, How could she not realize whats going on? She has helped me with so many births... but I guess this is the other side of it....have we even discussed any of this before? Goddess, no wonder I never had any children....
Suddenly they hear a soft, rapid tapping at the door. Star smiles and looks up at Rowan, “Mya...”
Rowan opens the door a crack and Mya flits in and lands on Stars shoulder. She wraps her arms around Stars neck, “Mya worried.”
Star moves to a sink and rinses her mouth out and splashes cold water on her face, bringing a bit of color back to her cheeks.
“Maybe you should stop by my place tomorrow so we can make sure the baby is all right...”
Star looks up from wiping her face, a puzzled expression wrinkling her brow, “But Mera is fine and you just gave her a check up...”
Rowan smiles, “Not Mera, this baby...” and she gently rests her hand on Stars belly.
Stars eyes change colors rapidly, “Really? You think I am... I mean.... Oh... that explains...” and she starts to cry, but happy tears this time.
“Guunnar knows. Remember he knew when Alise was going to have the twins? He is just worried about you, not trying to give you a bad time..”
Nodding, Star wipes at her eyes. “Where is Erik? I want to talk to him first.”
“Raina dragged him outside. I can sneak you out of here and up the back steps. Go up to the widow's walk and I will send him up. Hows that sound?”
