Finishing up the last of her chores, Laila leaves the main house and goes outside. The late afternoon sun is warm and she smiles to herself. A couple of hours to myself before Rath awakens for the night... I can get something to eat and wash one of my dresses...
She hesitates as she circles around the house and her room comes into view. The hound is still there, lounging in his spot near the trees. He watches Laila with red eyes, as curious about her as she is about him. She almost laughs out loud at her thoughts, I hope I wasnt suppose to feed him. He looks like he could eat a cow without any trouble...
She pushes the door open and enters her room, sighing with relief. Even though Rath was 'sleeping' she never felt comfortable in the main house and always felt like she was being watched. It was good to be in her own space, even for a short time. She reaches for one of her dresses hanging on its hook, intending to gather her laundry, when she sees something dark blue hanging next to it. She leaves the dress and slowly takes the scarf from the hook.
This isnt mine. Where did it come from?
The fabric is soft against her sore hands and feels heavenly. The texture and color is gorgeous, a rich deep blue that contrasts with the faded worn colors of her clothes.
She drapes the scarf over her head and pulls one side over the lower part of her face and freezes. A lingering scent of something herbal, leather...
Ramji? He would leave this for me? But why? I am nothing more than a servant... I shouldnt accept his gift... but its so beautiful... Rath never notices anything about my clothes, he wont notice this either...
Laila pulls a few things off the hooks and takes down a blue skirt. The color is as faded as her dresses but it once been a deep blue. The full skirt was embroidered with gold and red flowers and Laila had made herself a sleeveless blouse to go with it. The scarf would match the skirt better than her dresses and was long enough to cover her arms. She smiles, I think Rath was planning on dinner at the tavern with that blonde girl....
