"Tis a vision they be, a bonnie bit of heaven on earth."
Keon drops onto a chair, almost missing it.
"Laila ish... is a lovely lassie. Tis good to see the light of her smile."
Ramji nods, watching the teasing. Mya has both tiny hands clenched tight around a strand of Laila's hair. he glances at Keon, surprised to see the Dark Fae leaning on his elbows.
"Ram... Laddie... an' she be what ye are a'wantin... if yer heart has found its home... grab it wi' both hands an' hang on tight. Tis a strange world we live in. Ye ne'er ken what lies ahead."
His brogue is deep, deeper than Ramji has ever heard it. The mug before him isn't Keon's usual drink. Ramji lifts it, sniffing. Mead. He shakes his head, setting the mug on the other side of the table. There is a lost look in the Fae's eyes. Ramji slides into the chair closest to Keon. He lays his hand flat on his friend's shoulder, unsure of its welcome.
Cassie's death is still a fresh wound. As much as Keon seems to be dealing, this makes it obvious that he isn't. He squeezes Keon's shoulder. "Ke... if you need to talk, any one of us will listen."
Keon looks up at the Hunter. "Appreciated... Aye, yer all here. All save the one who can heal me best. Goddess knows Erik an' Star hae done what they can. I ask for nae better ta care for my bairn. Tis kin they hae made us." He reaches for the mug, missing by a mile. "I think, a wee drop o' coffee twould nae be amiss?"
Ramji waves for a waitress and orders two cups. As the girl works her way to the bar, Keon props his chin on his palm. "Star... she's a goodun'. Good it is, that their paths hae crossed again."
Ramji opens his mouth to ask what Keon means, only to find Keon's eyes have drifted shut.
