It's as much as my life is worth to come between them while they're in this mood, so I sit… and watch… and wince frequently. Nick is just this side of vamping out completely; I know the signs. And Ky might be just pissed-off enough to kick his vampy ass and worry about her own health later. Raina or no Raina, I'm on the point of getting up and trying to play peacemaker - which is a great way to get my ass kicked by both of them - when Inari shows up and takes control of the situation.
In a few minutes, it's obvious there's not going to be bloodshed - at least not immediately - and I start breathing again. Raina gives me a grin and a thumbs-up while I try to sink into the floor, thinking about what was said - and what might have been said….
