Raina and Tannr talked long into the night. She tried to fill him in on everything she could think of about her new “family”. She told him about Alise and Stoney and how Alise looked so much like Tara it was almost scary and that her daughter was named Tara and an empath too. They talked about Keon and Cassie and how Morgan had been hunted and killed. Tannr had heard about some of that at the Unformed Plane, mostly that Inari had been there and some from the human realm but he had no idea of who.

“If only I had come in then... we would have seen each other. I always stay out for days, no reason to come back until you about cant fight anymore...” Tannr stares at Raina for a minute..”So, you and this vampire... and the others... is this a permanent thing for you guys or what? Or are you just hanging out together for the time being? I dont get it....”

Raina smiles, “Well, I hope its permanent. I am pretty sure it is with Nick anyway. We just dont want to limit ourselves, neither one of us wants to be monogamous but we love each other, so...” She shrugs, “This seems to work for us, and Gareth and Ky too. I would be heartbroken if any of them chose to leave, but I cant force them to stay.”

Tannr nods, “I dont understand completely, and I dont want you to get hurt...”

His thoughts are interrupted by Star, moving silently to the fridge to get something to drink. Raina looks up over the back of the couch to see what Tannr is staring at. Star looks over to the living room and smiles to see the two faces peeking over the back of the couch.

“Still talking?” she asks.

“Why arent you sleeping sweetie? You need your sleep. You are busy all day with Mera... and Erik..” Raina gives Star a wink, making her laugh.

“Stop teasing. The baby keeps me awake sometimes. He is moving all over the place in there.”

“Do you want to sit with us for awhile? We can make room...” Raina starts to scoot over to one side of the couch.

“No, its fine. I want to go back to bed. I was just thirsty. Good night.” Star returns to the room she shares with her husband.

Tannr watches Star walk away, her white shift leaving little to the imagination, especially when she passes by a moonlit window.

“Its easy to see why Erik loves her so much.” Tannr turns back to Raina. “She's gorgeous.”

Raina nods, “They are fiercely devoted to one another.”

Tannr sighs, “I can see that, its obvious they care for one another deeply.”

Both are silent for a few minutes, lost in their own thoughts, when Raina turns to Tannr and says, “Maybe you will find someone here, someone you can care about...”

Tannr gives a short, bitter laugh. “I doubt that. That part of me died... with them.. Besides, the only women I know are just whores, who will pretend anything you want if the price is right. Over and done with pretty quick, if ya know what I mean. I dont think that makes me good 'boyfriend' material...”

Raina wasnt sure what to say, she didnt want to argue with him right after they were all reunited. She knew what men were like after living in a war camp for a length of time. He wasnt lying when he said all he did was fight and drink and screw a whore every now and then. She sighs remembering the boy who followed her and Erik everywhere. He was always more interested in the girls then his weapons. Funny how things change... Goddess, please, I just want him to learn to be happy again....
