Nick jumps when Raina kicks him in the shin. Not that it hurt, he was just surprised by it. “What the hell was that for?”
“I know what you said. I can read your lips. If you scare him away I wont be able to find out about that girl. And I know something isnt right, besides the servile attitude...” Rainas gaze returns to the small covered figure.
“Cant save the world, lover.”
Raina smiles and leans close, “Who says I cant?”
Nick returns the smile and sips on the bottle that Patti set in front of him. He knows that Raina will try to take care of any girl that even remotely reminds her of her sister. It was one of the things he loved about her... the compassion under the tough as nails exterior.
Nick sighs dramatically, “Okay, you win. I'll walk by her in a few minutes, when it wont be so obvious. See if I can scent anything.”
“Thank you. I'll make it worthwhile to you later on...”
When Raina looks up she sees Alise grin and wink at her. Laughing she grabs Alises arm and pulls her into her lap. One arm around her waist and the other caressing her cheek Raina whispers, “Be careful with your teasing lítill einn...”
Alises skin was soft and her scent reminded Raina of a garden in sunshine. She closes her eyes and the time that she walked in on Alise taking a shower comes unbidden to her mind. When Alise whispers “I'm always careful” in her ear Raina has to choke down the desire to kiss her until she was breathless.
Giving Alises hair a playful tug Raina says, “Tease..”
“Witch..”
Suddenly Alise starts to giggle, Stoney! The images of his wife in Rainas lap, naked, her blonde hair tousled and hanging down with Rainas ebony tresses takes them both by surprise.
Raina looks up, “What? What did he say to you?”
Shaking her head, still laughing softly, Alise says, “I will tell you later...”
“No, tell me now.”
Alise stands, “Later, ma souer.”
Raina watches as Alise joins her husband and picks up Tara.
Nick leans close and says “Dont you hate it when they tease and leave you hanging like that?”
“Shut up Nick.” She grins at Nick before her attention returns to the small cloaked figure, sitting silently and still in the booth.
