Cassie cant stop staring at her daughter. Her hair was thick and dark like Keons but it seemed to have a blue sheen or blue highlights to it. Her skin was a beautiful shade of ivory, the blue tint fading so that sitting on the dock in the moonlight the only blue Cassie could see was faintly shaded over the tiny webs of her fingers and toes and a bit over her gills, which were smaller even that Cassies. Cassie couldnt tell what color her eyes were yet, they seemed dark, but one day they would be as blue as her mother's and remind Keon of Cassie every time he looked at his daughter.

As Keon walks to the opposite end of the dock he looks over his shoulder. He sees Cassie, silhouetted in the moonlight holding their daughter and his heart leaps with love for them both. Pacing excitedly back and forth he speaks to Guunnar, telling him about the baby and the birth. When he turns his back, Morgan steps out of the shadows near the boathouse and raises the long knife she had found.

Cassie didnt hear a thing until Keon yells, “NOOOO.....” All she sees is a hideous face, red hair and the knife raised over her baby. She turns, using her body to cover Mera's and the knife enters her back at the waist. Her scream of pain is all Keon can hear. She falls to her knees and the knife strikes again, but she cant feel the second strike. Blue poisonous blood has sprayed around her but it somehow misses Morgan.
