Cassie moans when Guunnar lays her on Keons bed. The stabbing pains in her hip bring tears to her eyes again.
“Goddess, my hip.” Cassie grabs Rowans hand and whispers, not wanting to worry Keon. “Its not the baby is it?”
Rowan tried to reassure Cassie as best she could, but she knew little about nymphs other than they gave birth in water. “I dont really know, but I dont think so. If you feel like you need to get to the lake, you should go immediately. Call me if that happens, okay? I have a scheduled c-section tomorrow evening but other than that I should be available.” Rowan pushes Cassies hair away from her face, “Can I get you anything?”
Cassies sleepy voice whispers, “No. I just want to sleep.” She reaches for Keon, “Stay with me?”
Taking her hand Keon kisses the palm, “Always Mela...”
Rowan leaves her number with Keon and pushes Guunnar out the door, Star close behind. “She needs to rest and they dont need us hovering...”
Guunnar backs up into the hall and Star starts to giggle at the look on his face.
“I chust vant to help.” He shakes his head, “Those redheads, alvays so bossy...”
Rowan smiles and Star starts to laugh in earnest. “I dare you to say that to Tori...”
“Vhat?! Now even little sister picks on me?..”
Cassie smiles at the bantering as they leave the room. She has never felt so tired as she does now. Keon looks worried and she tries to tell him everything will be fine, but she keeps drifting off. The last thing she remembers, until she wakes in the early hours before dawn, is Keons worried face and his hand stroking her face.....
