Rowan smiles, it was a relief to let Traeger hold her, to let her mind go blank for just a few minutes.
“I would love to see your wife's notes. Maybe we can plant a new herb garden based on her observations. We would have some new things to try before making use of modern medicine. Star loves to garden....” Her thoughts trail off, tiredness taking its toll.
She listens as Traeger talks and nods when he says she doesnt have to answer right away. “You dont have to give up your shop for me. Would you be happy in the woods away from Pandora and Chloe? And I think I am fast reaching a point where I may have to make a decision about my work. The coven is still very important to me, but my responsibilities as a healer take so much time. I may have to chose one or the other. Not that I would ever leave the coven, but maybe they would be better served with a different priestess, I dont know. Its too much to think about right now.”
Traeger leads her to a table and asks Monty to bring a glass of Irish whiskey. “None of this has to be decided this instant. Relax a bit, we can go to my place when you are ready...”
Rowan smiles, “You might be carrying me, just so you know.” and she takes a sip of her whiskey. “Mmm... the best...”
“Are you worried about the blue girl? She took a hard fall, I gather.”
“Yes. Very worried, in that I know almost nothing about her kind and she isnt very forthcoming with information. I know that nymphs, as a rule, are a very secretive race, but she is half human. All I know is that they give birth in or right next to the water. She has no broken bones and the baby is moving. I guess thats something. But her aura....” Rowan shakes her head, “Maybe I am just tired and not seeing clearly, but it seems so faint. Maybe thats normal for her, I just dont know...”
She drains her glass and stands, intending to bring it to Monty. Traeger stands and scoops her up. Rowan starts to laugh, “I was joking, sort of... you can put me down. I promise I wont fall...”
“Put the glass down Rowan...” She places it back on the table. “Enough of worrying about everything and everyone else. Tonight is about you, even if that means you just curl up and sleep. Goddess, woman, you have to take care of yourself. When was the last time you ate?”
Rowan shrugs and Traeger shakes his head and carries her out of the tavern and next door to his place.
