Tori waves from the door as Keon leads the horses from the shadows. He nods, just one more bit of dark in the near-pitch of the alley. Once settled in the saddles, Keon murmurs a few words. A section of shadow takes on the telltale shimmer of a Gate and the horses step through without urging. They ride in silence for a bit, listening to the steady clip-clop of their mounts. It isnm't long until Keon motions to another Gate.

Emerging into the woods, Keon halts suddenly. He raises a finger to his lips and slides from the saddle. Tannr nods and dismounts just as quietly. Keon yips, an odd high pitched growling sound. There is no answer. He glides around trees, Tannr his soundless shadow. The clearing before the cabin comes in view. There is no sign of the Hell Hounds. He yips again, and one slides from the shadows of the porch.

The red eyes of another gleams from the back of the cabin. Keon watches for the others, Stepping forward he finds his way barred by several demifae. The hover before him, long hat pins brandished. There is a building of power. Leaves around them begin to shiver in its force.

Keon smiles, lowering his own aura. He sheathes his sword, having drawn it by instinct. There is a quick chittering conversation between two of the winged Fae, and Keon hides a smile. He bows and the Fae depart, save two. They salute Keon with the pins and are gone into the shadows.

Tannr watches them fly away, knowing their size means nothing when it comes to their magic. "Friends of yours?"

Keon shakes his head, dark braid slithering against the back of his coat. "No. The are local Fae. It seems our Star has protectors no one knew about."

They step up on the porch, Keon fitting his key into the lock. A sound behind them makes them still. When they turn, Star stands before them, a guilty look  half hidden by her loose hair.
