Raina walks in the house pulling off her leather and shaking. “Damn, its getting too cold to ride the bike. I should just get it in the garage....” Her voice trails off as she sees Ky and Gareth standing in the hallway, staring at the phone.

The pair look up at her entrance, their eyes wide and expressions serious.

“Whats wrong? Wheres Nick?” Raina asks, her first thought that something had happened on one of the patrols.

Gareth moves to replay the answering machine. “Listen. We just heard this as you were pulling up in the driveway...”

"Drow. Cabin. Come ASAP."

Ky starts to move now, strapping on her bow, checking the arrows.

Raina shakes her head and grabs for the case Ky is holding. “No, you cant go. Rowan said, you promised. Ky... please.... I'll go...”

“I have to go Raina. I have sworn, I have no choice in this. Keon wouldnt call for no reason. And if this is the group of Drow that I think it is...” Ky shakes her head, “They make the ghouls look like a group of naughty schoolchildren.” Ky turns to Gareth, “Can you take me on your horse? The paths would be the fastest way.”

Gareth nods and turns to go but Raina grabs his arm hard, stopping him.

“She cant go, her leg. Gareth, make her stop...”

Gareth hesitates, then pulls Raina into his arms. “I can no more make her stop than I can make the moon fall from the sky. She has sworn her sword, her heart, her very life to your sister in law. She does not take that lightly, and you would not want her to. I know you would do the same. I am sure Keon will understand and make her the last line of defense, keeping her close to Star. But she has to go, theres no way around it.”

Raina lets the words sink in and she realizes that Gareth is right. She nods her head slowly, “All right... take her with you. I'll go find Nick and meet you there.”
