"Leaving aside the prophecy for the time being, I will say this. I have little love for the Fae, saving your presence, Keon. My initial impression of Gareth was that, regardless of his reasons, he worked with that unholy bitch and deserved whatever he got.

Since then, however, I've talked with my sister and the vampire, and I admit my judgment may have been over-hasty. It's one of my faults, making snap judgments; I suspect it comes from having to make such judgments in battle - but let that go.

I've had little to do with the gargoyles, or with my hostess - but family is sacred to me and to mine. If my aid is needed to deal with that redheaded hellion, I am at your service - provided it does not leave Star unprotected.

As to this prophecy - I will have to think on it. I have been told that Gareth says there is no clear agreement on its meaning, even from the scholars of the Bright Court. Perhaps those of the Shadow Court know more, I cannot say.

This much I do know; the more you lean toward a particular interpretation of prophecy, the more evidence you will find to support your view - which may lead to you ignoring alternate interpretations."

I sigh heavily. "I wish the gods would just say what they mean, straight out. It would save those of us who worship them a great deal of time, and put some bullshit artists out of business."
