Stepping through the Veil near Cassie's takes more that Keon would have thought. He turns to watch her slip into the water. The nymph is beautiful. He can feel a tug as he turns away. An errant thought scuttles through his mind.
She is precious. A gem of rare quality. You could do worse, Lad.
Keon shakes his head, strolling along the Path. His life is not easy. A commitment would put the woman in danger, not only from his duties, but from the Sidhe themselves. Oh, he could hear his sister now... bad enough he turned from his rightful Seat, then to take up with that half Deamon Huntress... If she knew about Cassie, she would hunt the nymph down and try to get rid of her. No. He was going to do what He wanted, and what he wanted was to relax and enjoy the connection he had with his blue-hued lover.
The sun overhead lightened the woodland shadows to shades of blue. His mind roams the hills and valleys of Cassie's lovely body. Like moonlight on water, she shimmers in his thoughts. Keon whistles and strolls on, turning down the Path to the Dark Lords' stronghold.
Finding the tome he wanted was quick enough. Finding the spellcaster wasn't. He waited an hour for the man, only to find out he was in attendance to Mab that morning. Keon left a message with his housekeeper, asking if he would be free for a private consultation. Most fae could cast spells, but this man dealt primarily with poisons.
Keon changed, tucking Erik's clothes, and more of his own, into his saddlebags. Trooper greeted him, keeping a safe distance. After a few minutes, the Hound seemed satisfied and almost knocked Keon to the ground. Twillon watched him carefully for any signs of the Song.
"Truant checked in. There has been some activity in the woods near Conal's remains. He isn't disturbed yet, but the watchers are all on alert."
Keon nods and is in the saddle in no time.
Cantering back into the Human Realm, Keon notes the day has moved on quickly. Gone is the morning he just left, instead early afternoon and a fine drizzle greet him. Flipping up the hood of his cloak, Keon heads for the Tavern.
