Alise starts to laugh. “How do you always know Gunnaar? I think most everyone here knows, but to those that do not... Stoney and I are having another baby.”
There are congratulations and toasts. Star stands and goes to Alise and hugs her. “I thought so...” and she takes Tara from Gareth so that he can eat. Tara squeals in happiness, next to her parents Star is her favorite person. Star smiles, her eyes go from blue to pink and back again, the affection obviously returned.
Alise watches as Keon brings the beautiful blue girl to the table and introduces her to everyone. Her mind reaches out for Stoney's. Have you ever seen Keon smile like that? They make a striking couple, the differences in their skin color...
Once Cassie is settled in next to Keon, Raina stands and clears her throat. “You know I am not good at this kind of thing, but it seems we have much to celebrate. New babies, new friends, family, a wedding. Even though we all arent family by blood, our ties to each are just as strong and you all mean as much to me as any blood relation.” Raina looks at all the faces around the table, “There are no words to describe the joy that you have brought into my life... Salud!"
No one noticed the dark shadow near the front door that quietly slipped outside and into the night....
