Thoughts swirled in his head... the ability to see Mera any time he wanted, the chance to teach her at least some of her heritage, watch her grow, tell her of her mother... That alone was more than he could have asked, but the offer of Blood Oath? That was unexpected. Mera coos as he strokes the blue streak in his hair across her cheek.
Keon speaks without looking up from his daughter.
"I am glad Silk nae called me a fool when I asked her opinion. An Cassie, she approves, I ken."
He looks up to find Erik and Star both looking at him. A small smile curves his lips. "I saw Cassie on the Unformed Plain. Aye, I ken that was naught but mine own wishing. But I saw her again at her boat. That was not a wish, twas her indeed. She will be watching over our Mera, as well as meself."
He looks at the blue lock of hair in his dark fingers. He twirls the strand slowly, thinking. He strokes the strand, a gentle caress as if it were Cassie he truly touched. The vial at his throat warms.
"Erik, ye do ken what I have done to meself? To have Cassie, I used a spell to make our bloods compatible. Cassie's blood is lethal, I ken naught if me own matches hers, or if I am merely immune to the toxins in her blood. Before I accept your offer, an aye, I wish I could say yea right now, I needs must speak to Mer Cronigh. Another thought is if ye are long lived or truly immortal. I would hate to exchange blood if ye would haunt me over it."
He smiles , pushing his worry out of his eyes with an effort.
